I began my career in education as an elementary classroom teacher almost 20 years ago. I currently work in education technology for Portland Public Schools and have been with the district for the last 14 years. The best aspect of my job is having the flexibility to be involved with a lot of different technology-related initiatives and projects. Most of my time is spent creating professional learning opportunities for teachers and supporting their education technology needs. I love visiting schools to check out what’s happening with technology and classroom instruction.
I am passionate about using technology to re-imagine education. Today’s students and teachers have to be adaptive and flexible; we must all work to understand our own learning processes in order to facilitate and navigate educational challenges in ways that are engaging, personalized, inspiring and relevant.
When I’m not playing around with technology, I love to knit and sew, watch movies, read, go out to eat, swim, bike, run and hang out with family and friends.
